Senior Director, Pricing & Market Access

The Position

Let’s do something amazing together!  The Senior Director of Pricing and Market Access will play a pivotal role in the commercial launches of Arrowhead’s leading investigational cardiometabolic medicines – Plozasiran (siRNA targeting APOC3) and Zodasiran (siRNA targeting ANGPTL3).  These molecules have demonstrated compelling clinical data to date and are in late-stage development for the treatment of various grievous conditions, including Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS), Severe Hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG), Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH), and cardiovascular disease risk reduction. 

In this role, you’ll lead the development and execution of pricing and market access strategies. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Arrowhead’s Cardiometabolic Franchise, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our Market Access Value Platform and providing strategic guidance for key initiatives.

This role is based in Pasadena, California, with an expectation to be in office 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Arrowhead’s market access strategy and operations across payer segments, distributors, patients, and hospital systems.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Medical Affairs to develop value propositions, messaging, and payer-related communication tools and initiatives.
  • Lead field reimbursement teams including hiring, deploying, and optimizing the team’s plan of action and growth over time.
  • Lead the development of patient support services related to access and affordability, including patient co-pay programs.
  • Develop health technology assessment models, including budget impact and cost effectiveness models and drive health economic and observational research to support key assumptions.
  • Work closely with Business Analytics to analyze data channels, drive primary and secondary research, and organize payer advisory boards to identify actionable insights at territory, account, and provider levels to quickly identify new opportunities and resolve challenges.
  • Manage market access channel partners including specialty pharmacies and supportive vendors.
  • Identify and attend payer-related industry congresses and build and foster relationships with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitor and assess EU and Ex-US policy and market access environment changes and analyze the potential impact on Arrowhead’s portfolio.
  • Provide expert opinion on pricing and reimbursement assumptions for pipeline products and target product profiles.
  • Collaborate across internal functional teams to execute franchise and brand strategic imperatives and tactics.
  • Partner with Law and Compliance to ensure that programs are consistent with the latest laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical and/or payer industries, with 5+ years in US market access/pricing roles.
  • Solid understanding of foundational market access and pricing competencies, including payer strategy, payer marketing, pricing, reimbursement, contracting, and evidence generation.
  • Track record of successful brand launches or market access leadership of in-line brands in the US market.
  • Ability to work productively in a matrixed, team-based environment, managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to lead others and tailor communication style to cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated strength in insight generation and analytic assessment and ability to translate these insights into action.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred: 

  • MBA
  • Experience in cardiometabolic therapeutic area, preferably with a focus on dyslipidemias and/or cardiovascular disease risk reduction.
  • Experience with payer systems in large global markets including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, Japan, China.
California pay range
$250,000$300,000 USD
